ENERGY MODEL FOR COMPLIANCE WITH LEED® CERTIFICATION ESCUELA INFALTIL BETANIA IN BARCELONA, SPAIN – IN PROCESS.
It is a bioclimatically designed building in order to analyze the thermal behavior of different measures and reduce energy demand to a minimum, with the purpose of projecting a low-consumption school; taking into account orientation, sun protection, surround, smart glass and natural lighting.
The energy simulation was carried out in accordance with Appendix G of the ASHRAE 90.1-2010 standard, to verify compliance and performance of the EA: Minimum Energy Performance and EA: Optimize Energy Performance in order to analyze the thermal behavior of different measures and reduce energy demand to a minimum.
The footprint of the building to intervene is approximately 1,475 m². The land on which it is located has a steep slope, therefore the volumes of the building used for the classrooms form a succession of balconies on the ground. It has a basement, ground floor and 3 levels, for a total of 6,455 m² of construction.
The HVAC system consists of aerothermal energy that manages to extract free energy from the outside air through a high-efficiency inverter heat pump. Its heat production will be done with a boiler. For the classroom part there is a geothermal system that supplies the heat/cold pump with interior conditioning by underfloor heating and Fan&Coil support systems; all this using enthalpic heat recuperator.
